Confectionery prices rise by an average of 20-30%

Major federal and regional retailers have received notifications from confectionery manufacturers demanding higher sales prices for their products from today. Employees of three retailers told Vedomosti about this and confirmed a representative of the Eastern Union alliance (uniting the largest networks in the Siberian and Far Eastern federal districts of Russia – Krasny Yar, Samberi and Slata). Suppliers almost simultaneously notified companies of a 25% increase in prices, and Russian-made confectionery should rise in price more than foreign ones, said one of Vedomosti’s interlocutors. He found it difficult to explain the reason for this. A representative of the Verny chain confirms this information: the manufacturers demanded that the retailer increase prices by 10-50%. From April 1, according to him, Mondelez (brands “Jubilee”, Oreo, Alpen Gold, “Air”, Milka, Picnic, etc.) for the second time in a year wants to raise the cost of its products by 15-20%, Mars , Snickers, Milky Way, Twix, Bounty, M & M’s, etc.) – about 10%. Distributor Ferrero Rocher warned of a 20% rise in prices. But confectionery of Russian companies is becoming more expensive. According to a representative of Verny, KDV (Chio Rio) has requested a 67% increase in purchase prices since the beginning of the year. “Univest” (brands Impresso, “Rochelle”, “Rooster”, “Behind the clouds …”) intends to raise the cost of its products by 10-30%, “Accond”, “Wonderful Bird”, “Breakouts”, “Sufael” ) – by 17–22%, “Concept of taste” (Delser, Jules Destrooper and Zentis) and GK “Chernogolovka” (Fantola, Savinov) – by 20%. From March 21, the Slavyanka association, one of the largest producers of this type of goods, will increase the prices for weight candies by 20%. And “United Confectioners” (“Red October”, “Confectionery Concern Babayevsky”, “Rot Front”, etc.) have previously increased the cost of goods by 10%, but after obtaining the consent of the network put forward a condition to re-increase prices by another 18%, refusing to ship the goods, says a representative of the “Faithful”. Vedomosti’s inquiries to these companies went unanswered.

Other manufacturers explain their demands to retailers to increase purchase prices by rising costs of goods due to rising exchange rates amid sanctions against Russia. Gleb Kozlov, a member of the board of Rusprodsoyuz (uniting 400 companies) and general director of the Faretti confectionery factory, says that the cost of production has increased by 40% or more. Over the past 10 days, he said, powdered sugar has risen by 82%, cocoa – by 60%, fruit and cream fillings – by 30 and 90%, respectively, and baking molds – by 100% or more. These items have always been imported and have no Russian counterparts, and due to sanctions, it is almost impossible to buy these ingredients, sums up Kozlov.
